COMPOSITE MOULD MAKING
Jackson Industries specialises in composite mould making. Glass reinforced plastic moulds (GRP) are generally an inexpensive option compared to metal and carbon fibre tooling. These moulds can be built in days and can be repaired or modified easily as required.
GRP tooling is created in layers which include tooling gel coat, vinyl ester barrier coat, skin coat, bulking materials, core materials and bracing materials. Our tooling gel coats are hard, abrasion resistant and hold gloss far better than traditional gel coats.
GRP tooling is suitable for high volume production runs and if maintained correctly, can last may years to come. Combined with CNC machining of plugs and careful preparation of the plug and mould, Jackson Industries has achieved draft angles on products in the region of half a degree in some cases whilst still allowing reasonably easy release of large parts.
